Frenectomy

Description

A frenectomy procedure is a minor surgical procedure in which the frenulum that connects the lower or upper lip to the gum is removed. A frenulum is bands of muscle connective tissue covered by a mucous membrane located in the midline.

Objective

This intervention is recommended to prevent issues associated with eating and speech, as well as preventing the separation of the front teeth during growth. For adult patients, it is used to avoid the frenulum from interfering with prosthesis placement.

Treatment

Having provided local anesthesia, one of our specialists at Perion Dental Health Center will perform the frenulum extraction, using either a laser or a scalpel to complete the frenectomy procedure
